Kyle “Pelican” Pierce (Charlie Hunnam), a rugged and resourceful man from rural Connecticut, has spent years living a quiet life, far from the chaos of the big city. But when his old friend Brudy (Danny Trejo) is murdered under mysterious circumstances, Kyle is reluctantly pulled out of retirement and sent to Miami to uncover the truth.

In Miami, Kyle crosses paths with Joe Santiago (Wilmer Valderrama), a young, fast-talking hustler with big dreams and even bigger debts. Joe has his own reasons for wanting to find Brudy’s killers—reasons that are as dangerous as they are personal. Though their backgrounds couldn’t be more different, the two form an uneasy alliance to take down the powerful criminal organization responsible.
